Hike A: Leaving every day

 

The Inca trail and Maragua Crater. (Full day tour)

 

From the chapel of Chataquila on the rim of the cordillera de los Frailes you walk down the Inca trail to Chaunaca while you enjoy impressive views all around. When you reach Chaunaca our car will pick you up and take you to the crater of Maragua. Here you'll hike up to the dinosaur tracks at Niñu Mayu. Don't want to do any hiking but just want to enjoy the view from the car? It's still worth the trip! By the way, for walking along the Inca trail and visiting the dino tracks of Niñu Mayu we pay your fee, which is for the local communities who guard and maintain the sites and the trail.

Details Hike A:

Hike B: Leaving every day

The Inca trail. Half day tour

 

From the chapel of Chataquila on the rim of the cordillera de los Frailes you walk down the Inca trail to Chaunaca while you enjoy impressive views all around. When you reach Chaunaca our car will pick you up for a short visit to the big river you´ve seen on your hike. You can even have a swim in the cristal clear waters. It is possible to make a longer hike, one and a half our more, passing rivers and on little tracks where only goats pass by. On the way back you will see the valley of the Crater of Maragua, don´t forget your camera! By the way, for walking along the Inca trail we pay your fee, which is for the local communities who guard and maintain the sites and the trail.

Time spend in the car about 2 hrs

Hike C: Leaving every day

 

The rock paintings and the Inca trail. Full day tour

 

This hike combines a visit to the rock paintings of the Caves of the Inca and of the Puma and the hike down the Inca trail. Walking down to the rock paintings will give you splendid views of the valley of the Rio Ravelo. After visiting the rock paintings you walk back to Chataquila and from there you go down the Inca trail to the village of Chaunaca. By the way, for visiting the rock paintings and walking along the Inca trail we pay your fee, which is for the local communities who guard and maintain the sites and the trail.

Pinturas rupestres. Full day tour

 

This hike starts about an hour from Sucre at the chapel of Chataquila and follows the rim of the cordillera de los Frailes. The trail is easy and will take you through impressive, rugged landscape and splendid views to the rock paintings of the Caves of the Inca and of the Puma. After visiting the sites you walk down to the river, which you follow until you reach the village of Chaunaca. By the way, for visiting the rock paintings we pay your entrance fee, which is for the local communities who guard and maintain the sites and the trail.

Rockpaintings Hike - Full Day

 

This hiking starts at about an hour from Sucre, passing the chapel of Chataquila at 3.665m. We follow the rim of the “Cordillera de los Frailes”.

 

The trail is moderate and difficult (one small part). We will take you through an impressive, rugged landscape and splendid views along the way to the rock paintings to see the Pumamachay and Incamachay caves.

 

After visiting the sites you walk down to the river, which you follow until you reach the village of Tumpeka.

 

Almost no traffic, hardly any tourist and the real indigenous Bolivian people that most of the time only speak Quechua, their native language.

 

By the way, for visiting the rock paintings we pay your entrance fee, which is for the local communities who guard and maintain the sites and the trail.

 

Our car will bring you back to Sucre to enjoy a Free Drink in Café Florín!

You need to bring:

Good walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, camera, rainy jacket (ask for rainy season) and personal necessities. We try not to bring too much things like soft drinks and snacks/chocolates from the city and instead we would like everybody to spend in the little villages, so tourism will make sense to the local people….. Of course we`ll bring the main food from the city.

Rock Painting

 

 

Hike Pre-Inca Trail - Half Day

 

Pick up from Café Florín at 08:30. One hour ride through forests and little villages ascending to the chapel of Chataquila at 3665 m.

On the rim of the “Cordillera de los Frailes” you walk down the Inca trail to Chaunaca at 2900 m.

 

while you enjoy impressive views all around over the Maragua Crater. The hike is 95 % downhill and very easy, you only need good walking shoes and sunscreen. When you reach Chaunaca our car will pick you up and take you to the Ravelo River for a rest. Here you can have a footbath or a (cold) swim and we serve fruit, coffee and tea with cookies.
